A man who decided to buy every scratch card available on a Ryanair flight to test his luck was left completely stunned by the outcome. The unusual experiment was shared by Vik, better known online as Vikkstar, who revealed that his friend Ethan wanted to see whether purchasing all the cards on board could lead to a big win.

The pair documented the journey in a TikTok video while travelling, and it quickly became clear just how ambitious Ethan’s plan was. He bought so many scratch cards that other passengers actually began helping to scratch them off. Despite the group effort, the results were far from what anyone expected.

In the video, Vik explains: “We are here on Ryanair and this man Ethan has bought every single scratch card on the flight. I’ve opened about 100 scratch cards, one at a time. We haven’t won a single thing. We’ve won nothing. I’ll keep you guys posted.”

As the clip continues, it’s revealed that Ethan purchased a staggering 68 packets of cards. With dozens of people scratching away, anticipation grew, but the excitement soon turned into disbelief. At one point, a passenger can be heard shouting: “No one won anything.”

Vik added: “You’re supposed to match three – I can’t even match two. We’ve lost again.” The pair were shocked that, after all that effort and money, they hadn’t managed to win a single prize.

Since being posted online, the video has attracted thousands of views, with viewers quick to share their thoughts. One joked: “They definitely won’t allow mass buying on flights again.” Another commented: “I’m cabin crew for Ryanair and there’s so much more you don’t know.” Others questioned whether anyone ever wins, with one user saying they once won £26 in onboard vouchers and were told by staff, “Someone’s actually won,” highlighting how rare it is.

Ryanair’s scratch cards have long been controversial. A 2016 report revealed that jackpot winners are entered into a separate draw for the chance to win €1 million, where they must pick one envelope from 125. Only one contains the top prize, while others hold smaller cash rewards.

The odds of landing the jackpot are reportedly around 1.2 billion to one, making Ethan’s unlucky flight experiment a harsh reminder of just how slim the chances really are.
